MOPP (Marsham Older People’s Project) provides day services and support to adults with physical and sensory disabilities. The charity provides a once a week centre for isolated older people in the rural coastal strip between Rye and Hastings at Fairlight Village Hall every Friday. The centre provides a healthy meal, transport, social activities and health education at a cost of £5 per day.
Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings and Battle have chosen MOPP’s as its charity of the year for 2020, and have continued to support this initiative by raising money for the community group by organising charity raffles, raising over £500 during the year.
Samuel Holmes, director of Bexhill said: “MOPP is a fantastic local support group for older people in our community and many of our clients greatly benefit from the support they offer. Working closely with MOPP gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of their support services and we actively encourage our clients to join in with the sociable activities available, helping to reduce social isolation and loneliness.”

Samuel, Director at Radfield, said: “We were blown away by what we received from the school children to support our older clients for Remembrance Day. They created beautiful poppies and wreaths for our clients, who have been overwhelmed with their hard work and creative skills. It has created some great awareness of the roles our clients have played in events such as World War II making them all ‘superheroes’ and not just a generation of older people!”

Our aim is to continue to work with the school to bring our communities together in a fun and friendly way.”
