Mental Health Awareness Week is an important event in the calendar of Radfield Home Care. Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any age, and we are committed to providing consistent support for older people and our teams.
This year, the week has a focus on ‘anxiety’ and represents an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and highlight the importance of communication, being connected, and seeking professional help if needed.
At Radfield Home Care, we understand that mental health can be a difficult topic to discuss, especially when it comes to our older loved ones. We are here to provide quality private care and support for older people that keeps them connected to the things that matter most, whether that’s spending time with family or taking part in activities they enjoy.
At Radfield Home Care, we strive to ensure that all of our elderly clients have access to the mental health support they need. We recognise that older people can experience depression, anxiety and loneliness, and provide bespoke care plans tailored to their individual needs.
Our qualified Care Professionals are trained in offering emotional support as well as practical help with everyday tasks such as shopping, meal preparation and medication management. Our team are here to provide companionship as well as guidance, giving older people the reassurance and confidence they need to live independently for longer.
Marking Mental Health Awareness week 2023, the registered charity, Mental Health UK have made a selection of free resources available for people seeking support, and for helping people start conversations about mental health.
Resources include:
Along with Mental Health UK, valuable information is being provided by Mind and Age UK. Mind offer this useful guide on coping while caring for someone else, which provides information and support options for paid and unpaid carers.
For older people seeking advice and support, Age UK have a dedicated selection of resources including a complete guide to depression and anxiety, identifying it and finding a path forwards.
At Radfield Home Care we understand that everyone’s needs are different so we provide tailored care plans that work around each individual’s lifestyle. We understand how difficult it can be for family members who live far away or have busy lives; our dedicated team of Care Professionals can take on some of the responsibility and provide regular reports so families can stay updated on their loved one’s well being.
At Radfield Home Care, we understand how important it is for older people to remain connected with their friends and family members even if they lack the physical ability or resources to do so themselves. We will always go the extra mile to keep our clients connected to the things that matter most to them.
