Since opening our doors in 2021, we have been working hard to deliver the best care possible to older people in the York, Thirsk & Ryedale areas. We are delighted to be recognised by Yorkshire & Humber’s Federation of Small Business Awards as a finalist for ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’.
The competition is tight, with just four other companies across the entire Yorkshire and Humber region being considered for the winning position. We have been shortlisted thanks to our focus on providing leading support and opportunities for our growing team of Care Professionals, enabling the highest standards of care to be delivered to our clients.
It’s a real honour to be recognised by the FSB, especially so early on our journey. When we launched the business, our primary focus was to make a stand against minimum wage care jobs where Care Professionals are woefully underappreciated – and this shortlisting recognises this.
We are one of very few accredited Living Wage care companies in York and the surrounding area and we regularly review our travel and pay rates to ensure they remain fair, transparent and leading. We also provide all of our team with fully paid training and weeks of shadowing when they join us. We ensure they have regular contact with the office team for support, advice and guidance. All of this means we have a team of happy and dedicated Care Professionals who have the skillset and focus to deliver the highest quality of care to our clients.
We truly believe that by providing unwavering support to our Care Professionals, they will in turn provide the very best care to all of our fantastic home care clients. We sat down with one of our Care Professionals recently, Kate, and asked what she enjoys most about working for Radfield Home Care York, Thirsk & Ryedale:
“I really enjoy the team feeling. It just feels like you’re really well supported, which enables me to make the decisions I need to make while I’m out visiting clients day-to-day but when I’m not with clients, I always feel like there’s someone at the end of the phone if there’s something I’m not sure about. As well though, I love the fact that we are so person centred and that everything we do is focused on what’s best for the clients.”
As well as a focus on employee-wellbeing, we also specialise in delivering care and support to rural communities – another factor contributing to our award shortlisting. Many providers struggle to cover the remote areas outside of the city and across the Hambleton region, so our focus in these areas provides a lifeline to many vulnerable individuals who may otherwise be left without access to support.
Assisting our clients with companionship, personal care, medication and more, Radfield Home Care York, Thirsk & Ryedale supports clients with a wide range of needs from domestic support, to dementia, to those who have experienced a stroke. Focusing on 60 minute visits that help clients and Care Professionals build meaningful relationships, enables clients to not only maintain independence within their own home but also improves their wellbeing.
