At Radfield Home Care York & Rural, we are always looking for ways to support our local community, and this time, our very own General Manager, Marco Polledri, is taking on an incredible personal challenge to do just that!
Marco began his challenge on 1st February and is cycling the equivalent of Land’s End to John o’ Groats— an impressive 837 miles (970 km)—to raise funds and awareness for York Carers Centre. But there’s a twist—he’ll be doing the entire journey from the comfort of his living room, pedalling away on an exercise bike. The challenge will last 78 days, with Marco aiming to cross the virtual finish line on Easter Sunday.
Since stepping into his role at Radfield Home Care York & Rural, Marco has witnessed first-hand the dedication of our Care Professionals, who provide compassionate home care in York and surrounding areas. Through this, he has also become deeply aware of the unpaid carers in our community—individuals who selflessly care for loved ones without always receiving the recognition or support they need.
When our team was asked to choose a charity to support, the answer was clear: York Carers Centre. This fantastic organisation provides free advice, advocacy, social events, and emotional support for unpaid carers in York, including areas such as Haxby, Huntington, and Acomb, ensuring they get the help they deserve.
Marco shared his motivation for taking on this challenge:
“Sport has always been a big part of my life, but after some personal health challenges in 2024, I had to put it on hold. Now that things are looking up, I wanted to challenge myself while supporting a cause that truly makes a difference. York Carers Centre does incredible work for unpaid carers, and I hope this fundraiser raises much-needed awareness and support. Every mile I cycle is for those who give so much of themselves every day.”
We’re incredibly proud of Marco for taking on this epic journey in support of York Carers Centre.
