Our clients are sending thank you’s to Towngate primary school

You may have seen not so long ago that we’ve been running a penpal scheme with Towngate primary school to connect older and younger generations. Part of our mission at Radfield Home Care is to keep older people connected; with their community, family, friends and anything else that matters to them.

Well, our clients were truly overjoyed when they received their letters from the children. But, now it’s the childrens turn to receive something nice! Our clients have been busy putting pen to paper so that they can respond to their new friends. Writing can be difficult for some of our clients and so our office team stepped in to write letters for them.

Michaela Radovanovic, recruitment manager said:

“We’ve had some lovely replies from our clients for the children at Towngate Primary. For our clients who are unable to reply, we have written a letter on behalf of Radfield Home Care to ensure all the children receive a thank you on their behalf for their fantastic pictures and letters. The colourful pictures really brightened up our clients’ houses and brought a smile to their faces.”

The penpal scheme benefits both the pupils and our clients. It gives the children a chance to hone their letter writing skills and improve their literacy, whilst also bringing joy to the clients who receive them.

Writing can benefit people experiencing dementia

While not all of our clients experience dementia, some of them do. For them, the action of writing things down actually has some tangible benefits.
