Maggie Holliday, senior carer

We would like to introduce you to one of our more experienced carers at Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Dewsbury, Maggie Holliday.

Maggie has worked in care for the last twelve years, starting her career as a home care assistant working mainly with older people. Maggie had a two-year gap working as a support worker, with people with autism, learning difficulties, complex needs and challenging behaviours. Maggie then returned to home care, where she felt much more at ease and comfortable and was able to follow her passion of caring for older people.

Why Radfield Home Care?

“I chose Radfield Home Care because I wanted to be part of a team that truly cares. I also wanted to be part of a team that really does bond and has respect for its team members, and that’s exactly what the Radfield care team provides. Radfield really does show respect, support and commitment to not just the clients but to each other and I have finally found my forever place!”

Do you have any future aspirations working for Radfield?

“Yes, I am in the process of progressing my career. I am currently a senior carer and am loving every minute of it. I’m open and keen to attend the ongoing training that is available to help me develop and grow as an individual. I’m undecided yet as to which direction I may take, but I do I know that there are opportunities on the horizon, which is really exciting!”

Do you have any special moments you would like to share?

“There are so many special moments, it’s hard to say. One of my most recent and fondest memories is the special bond that I now have with a female client. She truly thinks I’m so funny when I work alongside my senior carer colleague and we have all laughed together until we have cried in the mornings as we are assisting her to wash and dress.

I truly have had some very special moments with all of my clients and have built such a great relationship with them all.”

What do you love most about your care role with Radfield?

“I love the fantastic team of carers I work alongside, I love the fantastic managers I have, but most of all, I love the clients, because without them there would be no care.

Working for Radfield Home Care has given me the opportunity to develop my skills in many other ways. We have a great shift pattern in place which provides a good balance of work and home life, with the ability to pick more hours up if I want them. There is also a degree of flexibility to work around any unforeseen circumstances, which is really reassuring!”
