Care professionals recognised for going above & beyond

Radfield Home Care Wakefield and Dewsbury has been busy celebrating and rewarding the fantastic work achieved by their care professionals – boosting positivity amongst the team despite the recent challenges brought by Covid-19 to the care sector.

Carers were asked to nominate a colleague who they felt should be recognised for regularly going above and beyond as Gemma, registered care manager of Radfield Home Care Wakefield and Dewsbury, explains:

“As a social care workforce we pride ourselves on going above and beyond, we achieve this in many different ways every single day. We are so proud of everything we do and it’s very important to recognise this and give thanks for this. We made decisions as a whole care team on who should be nominated, it was great to surprise the winners with a series of gifts!”

Once all the nominations were received back, the tally up began and a series of surprise gifts were arranged without their knowledge! The presents were awarded based upon the number of votes received, with care professional Stacey receiving the most with an impressive seven nominations from her colleagues. She received a £50 gift voucher, flowers and a card with a personal touch – detailing all the lovely comments she had received from her fellow carers. One such comment really sums up Stacey’s importance to the team:

“Stacey is a first class team member, she’s very knowledgeable, caring, empathetic and a willing colleague whom I always look forward to working with. Stacey is an excellent colleague that shares her knowledge and experience in a friendly manner.”

Stacey describes her reaction to winning the top prize:

“It was wonderful – very humbling to think the team thought of me when asked to nominate someone who goes above and beyond, it was a very nice thing to do and I cannot believe some of the comments my team have left for me!”

A number of carers received several votes, including Natalie and Leanne, and were awarded flowers, a personalised card and £20 in vouchers.

They too were appreciative of the surprise gift and sent their thanks to the management team:

“Thank you so much for the lovely cards and flowers, much appreciated and made me cry – but you knew that would happen!… Natalie”

“I just wanted to say thank you very much for the delivery of flowers I received yesterday, they were a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Along with the voucher I have to say I’m a little overwhelmed by this as I am someone who likes to sit in the background. I love working as part of the Radfield team – Leanne”

Carers with one vote each also received a personalised card and gift, demonstrating the appreciation and respect that is genuinely felt between each member of the care professional team.
