At Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern, we extend our care services beyond just care at home. We aim to keep our clients connected with the things they hold dear to their heart and offer enriching experiences tailored to their preferences and abilities. Recently, we organised a nostalgic trip for two of our clients, Viv and Freda, both former employees of Cadbury, to visit Cadbury World.
Viv had previously worked for Cadbury’s 75-years-ago as a line worker and runner. Presented with the opportunity to revisit her old stomping grounds, Viv found herself eagerly anticipating the trip. As soon as she set foot in the factory, old memories came flooding back. From the white uniforms to the strict hygiene standards and the company’s employee-centric approach, everything had been etched vividly in her memory.
It wasn’t just about seeing the changes in her former workplace; it was about reviving the camaraderie she once shared with her colleagues. Returning back to her beloved home town of Worcester after an eventful day, Viv couldn’t thank our Care Professional, Jane enough, who thoughtfully wheeled Viv around Cadbury World. Of course, no trip to Cadbury World would be complete without carrying back a bagful of chocolates!
Our outing to Cadbury World equally delighted Freda and her husband, Patrick. Being locals from Droitwich, they aren’t accustomed to travelling far, which made this trip stand out for them.
Freda had once been part of a great team of ‘dippers’ at Cadbury’s associated factory, Parkes Confectionery in Oldbury. Coming back to Cadbury rekindled her fond memories of chocolate dipping days, a job she did when she was just 15 years old. The detailed accounts of Cadbury’s formation and its age-old chocolate-making techniques that Freda witnessed at Cadbury World held her captivated.
Freda said the best part of the day at Cadbury World was the history and seeing how the company was formed and how the chocolate was made in earlier days compared to how it is made today. She said it was really lovely to be out on a trip as part of a group as lockdown had caused us all to stay at home and not socialise for so long. She also said that the whole day was so well organised and we even provided a picnic lunch which was such a treat.
Our exciting trip to Cadbury World truly revived the vibrant past of Viv and Freda, infusing positivity, fun and laughter into their lives. At Radfield Home Care Worcester, we constantly strive for such ‘Be There‘ moments to deliver enriching experiences for our clients.#
