The team from Radfield Home Care Derby, Ashbourne & South Derbyshire recently joined the BBC’s DIY SOS Big Build to undertake an uplifting community project. The drive was directed towards renovating the Treetops children’s Hospice in Risley and was supported by Radfield team members Shelly Stephens, Jo Power, Dania Ali, Karen Arme, and Jessie Price.
Radfield’s Care Professionals are not just healthcare providers. Their dedication extends beyond their regular duties, often participating in initiatives, big and small, that benefit the broader community. Thus, when the DIY SOS Derby team required assistance to renovate Treetops Hospice, our Care Professionals sprang into action, showing the heart and dedication that exemplify our company ethic.
This empathy for the community was demonstrated as our team volunteered to cover late shifts, ensuring the workforce remained fed and hydrated during the event. Their extraordinary commitment saw them sacrificing their evenings and even part of their weekends, a testament to their passion for community service. Shelly Stephens, the Business Development Manager, invoked the team’s collective feelings by stating, “never have I been prouder of our team whose unhesitating commitment to this cause has been truly heartwarming.”
The Big Build was organised for BBC Children in Need in partnership with Radio 2 and focused on building a new children’s counselling and therapy centre for Treetops Hospice in Risley, near Derby. The intensive two-week charity build was documented throughout and broadcast on TV for Children in Need. With anticipation building the Derby team we were also present during the Big Reveal day, and as expected, witnessing the transformation was emotional for all involved.
The newly renovated centre aims to provide a safe and accommodating environment to help children living with grief. At Radfield Home Care we are proud to support our local community in whichever way we can, knowing this project will help vulnerable children through some of the most difficult times is fulfilling and affirms we are making a positive difference.
An enduring legacy in the care industry and our work with the DIY SOS Derby event exemplify our passion for providing not only quality care but also a connection with our community.
