We’ve been busy the last few months, but between providing fantastic care to clients in their own homes, we’ve been taking time out to support the Charnwood Memory Café.
When we launched Radfield Home Care Loughborough, Charnwood & Melton Mowbray, our main objective was to add value to the community by helping local people to live independently. We also wanted to become an employer of choice in the care sector.
Community integration is a key part of how we want to bring our home care services to those that need them. With this in mind, we are volunteering at the Charnwood Memory Café which takes place every month at the John Storer House in Loughborough.
Akash Raja, Director at Radfield Home Care Loughborough, Charnwood Melton Mowbray, said:
“The rate of dementia is skyrocketing especially because more light is being shed around the subject and having people close to me that have been affected, we want to do anything we can to support as many people as we can and their loved ones living with dementia.”
Whilst volunteering at the Charnwood Memory Café, we have met some incredible individuals. It’s also been a great fact-finding exercise by giving us an insight into the challenges people living with dementia overcome daily, which dictates how we train our staff to ensure we can support our service users with dementia.
The Memory Cafe Directory defines memory cafés as: A wonderfully welcoming place for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease or any other form of dementia, or other brain disorders. You may find some are activities-based, while others focus on education. Some simply guide the participants in exercises that foster reminiscing.
If you or someone you know is experiencing dementia or Alzheimer’s, then why not come along? We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10.30 am to midday. Just drop in and someone from the team will make you welcome.
At Radfield Home Care, we offer specialist support to our clients experiencing dementia & Alzheimer’s. Our Care Professionals undergo extensive training to best approach clients with cognitive difficulties. To read more about how we can help, please visit our dementia & Alzheimer’s services page.
