At Radfield Home Care, we understand the importance of companionship, especially during the colder months when many individuals may experience heightened feelings of loneliness. That’s why we are proud to announce a new initiative aimed at offering free companionship care in Leicester and surrounding areas. This initiative, led by I, Sona Bharkhada, Director of Radfield Home Care Leicester East, Groby & Oadby and Akash Raja, Director of Radfield Home Care Loughborough, Charnwood & Melton Mowbray, aims to provide much-needed social connection to individuals in North Leicestershire and central Leicester, ensuring they have the support and engagement they deserve.
Loneliness is a growing concern, particularly during the winter months, when social isolation becomes more prevalent. Akash, explained the inspiration behind this important initiative:
“Loneliness is a real issue and it’s sad to see how many people are on their own. Therefore we decided to offer this initiative throughout the Winter period, in the aim to combat loneliness and provide respite for individuals that look after their loved ones without finance being the blocker to accepting care visits”
At Radfield Home Care, we recognise that social connection is key to mental well being. That’s why we’ve created this initiative to offer up to 100 free hours of companionship care in Leicester and surrounding areas to those who need it most. By providing these free companionship visits, we hope to ease feelings of isolation, offer mental stimulation, and promote a sense of belonging in our community.
Akash and Sona have worked closely with social prescribers and other key individuals within the community to ensure the initiative reaches those in need. By collaborating with trusted professionals who work directly with those at risk of social isolation, we are able to ensure the initiative has the maximum impact.
Through this programme, we are offering up to 25 individuals four hours of free companionship care across North Leicestershire and central Leicester. This totals 100 hours of free companionship, which can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need a friendly face or someone to chat with. Companionship is a core part of our unregulated service, which focuses on providing non-medical care that supports mental and emotional well being.
Our Care Professionals will provide a range of support, from having a friendly chat to light domestic duties and even supporting individuals with outings. Whether it’s talking about shared interests, helping with household tasks, or simply spending quality time together, the goal is to ensure individuals feel seen, heard, and valued.
Companionship is more than just a nice gesture—it’s an essential part of maintaining mental and emotional health. Feeling connected to others has been shown to reduce feelings of loneliness, decrease stress, and even improve cognitive function. For many individuals, particularly those living alone or with limited family support, regular companionship visits can be life-changing.
At Radfield Home Care, we are committed to supporting individuals in the ways that matter most to them. Our companionship care in Leicester is designed to provide emotional connection, practical assistance, or both. Our Care Professionals ensure that no one has to face the challenges of life in isolation, especially during the colder months when feelings of loneliness are most prevalent.
