We would like to introduce you to Karen, Operations Manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry. Karen supports, manages, guides and directs the care management team and undertakes Operations Manager work in the local communities that the office services.
Karen joined Radfield as Operations Manager in February 2021 having spent over 35 years within the retail and customer service sector, most recently as a department store manager for a well known high street store. Alongside this, Karen worked with various different charities, befriending societies, community groups and local care homes, making her best placed to take up the role as Operations Manager.
Karen explains:
“Relationship building was so important in customer service and within my charity work. I would regularly build new contacts by organising events, everything from running fashion shows, gin tasting evenings and one stop shops to encourage participation from others. I am used to considering all aspects of a business, from driving sales, managing a large team, networking to delivering excellent customer service. My business experience, combined with the skills I have learnt, enable me to confidently develop a business whilst growing positive relationships with staff and clients.”
Her community outreach work and charity experience truly cemented Karen’s desire to work within the health and social care sector:
“The experience I have gained through my charity work, and also through personal circumstance, has made me realise just how important home care is and how we need to ensure we keep our independence as we age. This was particularly apparent to me when my Mum had a fall and needed support herself within her own home.
I have so much appreciation for the work that our care professionals do and I’m so proud that Radfield looks after not only their clients to such a high standard but also their care teams too. I was inspired to be involved in adult social care because I want the work that I do to be worthwhile, to help others live their lives to the full and to enable them to age well – as Radfield’s business development manager my role can support just that!”
