At Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, we maintain a steadfast dedication to supporting our clients and their families in the highest quality manner. Our Care professionals continuously face a wide range of challenges in the course of their duties. To ensure they handle these challenges smoothly, we equip them with specialised knowledge, enabling them to deliver premium home care services in the UK.
In line with our commitment to continuous professional development, we partnered with Lingen Davies, who work in collaboration with NHS Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, to facilitate a comprehensive cancer awareness training programme. Included in this specialised training were four of our team members, including our esteemed Care Manager and Field Care Supervisor. The training was conducted at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
The importance of early cancer detection cannot be overstated – it saves lives. This is where the role of a ‘Cancer Champion’ becomes invaluable for premium home care providers such as Radfield. With their knowledge and understanding, Cancer Champions are able to encourage individuals within the community to participate in cancer screening, recognise early cancer symptoms and seek appropriate medical help promptly.
Our Care Professionals develop trusting relationships with our clients, positioning them effectively to notice changes, be it in appetite or mood. On many occasions, clients find it less daunting discussing their concerns with our professionals than anyone else. We are honoured by this trust and aim to support them by accompanying them to appointments and advocating for their health interests.
The provision of this cancer training programme is designed to give our Care Professionals the confidence to have direct conversations about cancer with our clients and offer suitable support when needed. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Lingen Davies for facilitating an outstanding training course.

“Training for the cancer champion was brilliant so much information given! Very surprising some of the figures! Doing the training has given a lot of reassurance that something which causes so much fear can be treated and statistically doesn’t always end in a worst case scenario.”
