At Radfield Home Care, family is at the heart of everything we do. As a family-run home care provider, we’ve been dedicated to offering exceptional home care services across the UK for more than 40 years. Our journey spans three generations, each playing a role in shaping the care we offer today.
Our story started in 1982 when Chris and John opened Radfield Residential Home on Kennedy Road in Shrewsbury. Living and working within the home, they created a warm and nurturing environment where people could receive the care and support they needed. Their hands-on approach gave them deep insight into what makes care truly personal, setting the foundations for everything Radfield Home Care stands for today.
Inspired by their parents’ dedication, Chris and John’s children, Dr Hannah MacKechnie and Alex Green, saw the need for a different kind of care—one that would allow people to remain in their own homes while receiving the support they needed. In 2008, they founded Radfield Home Care, operating from a small garage next to the original residential home. Hannah, a qualified GP, and Alex, with a background in finance and charitable organisations, combined their expertise to build a service that prioritised independence, dignity, and personal connection.
In February 2025, we welcomed the third generation into the family business. Heidi, Hannah’s daughter and Chris and John’s granddaughter, has grown up surrounded by Radfield’s values. Currently a performing arts student, Heidi is gaining valuable work experience with us, bringing her creativity and fresh energy to the team.
Recently, Heidi had the opportunity to visit our day centre alongside her mum, Hannah, and her grandmother, Chris. She saw firsthand how care makes a real difference in people’s lives and shared her passion for music, performing songs that brought joy and connection to those we support. Reflecting on her experience, Heidi said:
“Spending time with my mum and grandma at the day centre really showed me how important it is to keep people connected and engaged. They’ve built this business from the ground up, supporting each other every step of the way, and seeing that first hand has been so inspiring.”
