Radfield Home Care Stamford, Peterborough & Rutland has been recognised as a business that helps improve the lives of others and has received the prestigious ‘Best New Startup’ prize at the Mercury Business Awards.
Husband and wife team, James and Stefania Beech, launched Radfield Home Care Stamford in 2019. Their aim was to help make a difference to the lives of older people in their community by providing a unique, tailored care and support service, promoting independence and wellbeing in their clients’ own homes. They are now watching their business grow.
James explained:
“We are delighted as we weren’t expecting the award. You always enter things and are not sure how they will turn out, but we have a good story and have really created something special.”
“We’ve only been going 18 months so it’s great to get recognition. We constantly get fantastic feedback, which is great to receive, and that’s the good thing about the business, we really do make a difference to people’s lives.”
James added: “It’s always challenging setting up a business from scratch as you have no customers or income but we have done things in the right way and built a loyal following of clients which continues to grow.”
The category was judged by Andrew Heeler, from Hegarty Solicitors.
A regular judge of the Mercury Business Awards, Andrew said it was “one of the toughest decisions” he has ever had to make, adding: “Based however on where it is now as a business, Radfield has more people employed in the business and I have the impression that their turnover is very impressive.”
The Mercury Business awards were established in 2005 and have become a ‘must’ in the business calendar. Held at the Greetham Valley Hotel, the awards celebrate excellence and showcase the achievements of local businesses and the people who work for them.
Businesses have faced and overcome huge challenges in the last 12 months, in a fight for survival against the Covid-19 pandemic, so arguably, there is even more reason to celebrate business successes.
