Radfield Home Care Stamford, Peterborough & Rutland, winner of the Mercury Business Awards Customer Service category 2023, has launched a new live-in care service to support a Stamford resident to return to the home and community that he loves. Peter, 83, lives with Parkinson’s disease. When his health took a turn for the worse, Peter and his family felt that residential care was the only realistic option for him.
Peter, who is a regular bridge player and has always enjoyed an active life, missed his home environment much more than he expected and quickly lost his motivation for life. Having previously received home care support from Radfield, Peter called the office in despair to see if they could help.
Peter’s call led to the very rapid birth of Radfield Home Care’s new 24-hour live-in care service. They liaised between Peter, his friends and his family and initiated upgrades to his home to ensure that it would be a safe environment for him to return to.
Radfield appointed two care professionals, who now live with Peter for two weeks at a time each. They quickly helped him to re-establish his independence and to reconnect with friends and his favourite activities. He now has regular visits from friends at home, plays bridge online and has even started to visit his local bridge club again.
Peter comments: “Returning home with live-in care support has been a very positive experience for me. I feel much happier here where I can see my friends in familiar surroundings and enjoy the things that I like to do when I choose. I get individual attention from my carers who are with me 24 hours a day. They make me some great meals, support me with my personal care and are on hand to help me around the house and get out and about when I want to.”
