On Friday 1st March, Radfield Home Care Havering held its first Dementia Friends Training Session.
Dementia Friends Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions and our Director, Lisa Cable, is now fully trained to present these sessions, supporting the Alzheimer’s Society.
Each Information Session lasts around one hour, where you learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia-friendly communities. There are information sessions running all across England. A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
A Dementia Friends Champion continues to encourage others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia in their community. They do this by giving them information about the personal impact of dementia, and what they can do to help. It’s easy to get involved.
Our next sessions are planned for Friday 3rd May and Friday 5th July at 2-3pm at the Radfield Havering branch.
