Gaynor’s story, carer

From finance to caring, and never looked back

We would like to introduce you to Gaynor, a dedicated Home Care Assistant with Radfield Home Care Havering & Brentwood.

Gaynor has a background in finance, working in the city as a credit controller for a credit insurance company, but unfortunately was made redundant in 2018. From that moment Gaynor realised that she never wanted to be based in an office again and wanted to have more freedom with her time.

Gaynor explained,

“I explored a number of care home roles, but soon decided that that wasn’t for me, so started looking at domiciliary care options. On New Year’s Day morning in 2019, I spotted an advert on Facebook and made contact, and before I knew where, an interview had been arranged for the 4th January!

I really enjoy my role as a carer, and have lots of special moments I treasure with our clients. Lots of our clients have a great sense of humour and it’s good to get them laughing. I also enjoy taking them out and about, especially to the local park, which brings back lots of special moments for them.

If you are thinking about a role in care, my advice to you would be don’t hesitate! We care for lovely clients, we have great support from our office team, and the whole team are lovely and kind people – it’s not like going to work!”
