Kayleigh McDonald

Field Care Supervisor

What is your background prior to joining Radfield?

When I became a parent, I worked as a hairstylist for five years. I found great fulfilment in caring for my children, which inspired me to pursue a career in childcare. I spent two years as a childminder, a role I found both rewarding and enriching. Once my children began school, I decided to apply for a position as a Home Care Assistant. This decision was driven by my personal experience caring for my grandmother, who had just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. My desire to make a positive impact and support the older generation led me to transition into this line of work.

How has your background prepared you for your new role at RHC?

My experience in hairdressing, focused on customer service, helped me develop strong interpersonal skills and the ability to assess and respond to people by the way they are interacting with you, which I now apply in my role as a Field Care Supervisor. This ability to adapt and engage with diverse individuals is key in managing and supporting my team effectively.

Additionally, my time in childcare taught me the importance of prioritising the needs of those under my care, fostering independence, and ensuring well-being. These skills are directly transferable to my role, where I support and guide my team, empowering them to perform at their best. I find great satisfaction in leading and making a positive impact on both the team and our clients.

What has inspired you to want to be involved in the adult social care sector?

My motivation to pursue a career in the adult social care sector comes from a deep desire to support others, particularly the older generation. Growing up, I lived with my grandmother and witnessed my mother’s dedicated care and support for her. My grandmother was fortunate to have a strong support network, and this experience inspired me to help those who may not have the same level of care. I am driven by the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who require support, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve.

How do you feel your role, and your experience, will benefit Radfield’s clients?

In my role as a Field Care Supervisor, I am responsible for monitoring the performance of care assistants and conducting spot checks at clients’ homes to ensure that service delivery is consistent with company policies and procedures. I am dedicated to maintaining high standards of care by regularly assessing and reviewing individual services, and providing practical supervision, guidance, and support to care staff. This approach ensures that clients receive the highest level of care, their concerns are heard, and they are fully satisfied with the service provided.

My experience has allowed me to appreciate the importance of ensuring clients are listened to, maintaining their independence, and providing person-centred care. By prioritising these values, I can ensure that clients receive the most appropriate and compassionate care tailored to their specific needs.
