We are excited to work closely with Ian, Jenny, and the entire team at WVIBC to build a strong relationship and create a vibrant social hub for our clients and the public. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to enhance this partnership, promote wellness, and increase awareness of the excellent facilities that WVIBC offers. We hope to provide services and projects that contribute to the club’s growth, with the potential for increased membership that benefits everyone involved.
Founded in 1972, Wey Valley Indoor Bowling Club has become a well-established indoor bowls venue in Guildford, Surrey. Often referred to as “Guildford’s best-kept secret,” the club is tucked away near Stoke Park, and many visitors to the area may unknowingly walk past this hidden gem. Offering a high-quality indoor bowling experience, WVIBC caters to players of all levels, from beginners to seasoned competitors.
The club offers excellent facilities, including a well-maintained indoor rink, structured coaching programmes, and a welcoming social atmosphere. Members can take part in friendly games, internal club competitions, and league matches, catering to players of all levels. The club also hosts county and national-level events, reinforcing its reputation as a hub for competitive indoor bowling in the region.
Beyond the sport, Wey Valley Indoor Bowling Club fosters a strong community spirit, regularly organising social events and activities for members. Additionally, the club welcomes visitors, such as ParkRun members, who often drop in for a coffee and a snack, creating a lively and inclusive environment for all.
At Radfield Home Care Guildford & Woking, we recognise the numerous benefits of staying active and engaged in the community. Through our partnership with Wey Valley Indoor Bowling Club, we aim to provide support for older adults who wish to participate in indoor bowls. We are passionate about enhancing the well being of our clients by encouraging social interaction and physical activity, which is why we are committed to providing services and resources that make it easier for individuals to join in.
Indoor bowls are an excellent way for older adults to stay active while enjoying meaningful connections with others. Our Care Professionals will support clients who want to participate, whether by assisting with transport or ensuring they are fully supported during the game. Through this partnership, we aim to strengthen both Radfield and WVIBC, creating a welcoming social hub where everyone can thrive.
Indoor bowls is thriving across the UK, gaining popularity with increasing participation and growing viewership. While some may still consider it an “old-fashioned” game, indoor bowls is a sport of precision and strategy. Once you’re invested in the game, you’ll find it to be an exciting and challenging activity that offers both mental stimulation and physical exercise. As a recent member, I can confidently say that coordinating the “line and the weight” of the bowls is no easy feat – but that’s what makes it so rewarding.
This revitalisation of the sport, alongside initiatives from organisations like Radfield Home Care, is helping to ensure indoor bowls remains vibrant and competitive in the UK. Our collaboration with WVIBC is part of this movement, as we work together to create a dynamic and inclusive space for everyone in the community to enjoy.
At Radfield Home Care, we are focused on supporting community-driven initiatives that benefit older adults and foster well being. We recognise the importance of staying engaged in both physical and social activities, and our partnership with Wey Valley Indoor Bowling Club is just one example of how we aim to make a difference. Efforts are underway across the UK to revive and support indoor bowls facilities, and Radfield is proud to be a part of these initiatives. We are dedicated to working with local institutions like WVIBC to bring a collaborative approach to community projects, benefiting both our clients and the public.
