Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle has been given the highly coveted ‘Overall Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the care services it provides.
Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle has been rated ‘Outstanding’ in four of the five key questions the inspection asked. This is a rare achievement for any care provider with a quadruple ‘Outstanding’ rating placing us in the top 1% of home care companies in the whole of England.
Inspectors from the independent regulator of health and social care visited in April and looked in depth at whether the service was safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. They also spoke to local health and social care professionals, people who receive the service, and members of staff and reviewed a wide range of documents and practices.
In the report published in June 2022, Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle was praised for providing “Outstandingly high-quality care that met and exceeded their client’s needs, and improved their wellbeing, independence, and happiness”.
In one example, the CQC found that Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle had arranged for the return of a client’s beloved cat after they rehomed it due to extended hospital admission. The report said:
“Staff had noticed that one person’s emotional well-being had declined. After exploring this, they found that the person had needed to rehome their beloved cat. Staff met with the person and their family and explained how they could support them to have their cat at home. This was agreed upon, and staff arranged for equipment to be purchased and had the cat collected and returned. This intervention had an instant positive impact on their emotional well-being, happiness, and sense of purpose”.
When assessing leadership, the CQC found the service leadership to be “Exceptional and distinctive’, they also found high levels of satisfaction among the team. In an interview, a member of our team said:
“I have experience with other care companies and Radfield Home Care isn’t like that. They never overload you with work and respect the amount of work we can do. We want to do the job properly.”
Samuel Holmes, Director & Owner said:
“I started Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle as I could see there was a need for a high-quality care service to support older residents to remain independent at home. I feel far too many local older people spend unnecessary time in hospital or are admitted to residential or nursing care homes when they could be supported at home.
I am incredibly proud of the whole team but special praise should go to our registered manager Amy Hilton and our senior team for leading the service through the pandemic. This achievement is a just reward for how hard they work and how much they care for each and every one of our clients. The special relationship our staff have with our clients and the effort they make to ensure everybody is treated as an individual really shone through in the inspectors’ findings.
Amy Hilton added:
“Achieving ‘Outstanding’ is a dream come true. To have our efforts acknowledged in this way means so much to all of us. We are proud to be leading the change needed in social care.”
