We would like to introduce you to Tayla Chapman, care coordinator for Radfield Home Care Fareham, Gosport & Warsash.
Tayla is responsible for the creation and management of the rotas for clients and carers, liaising with clients, families and professionals to manage care needs and staff deployment and supporting the registered manager with the safe running of the office.
Having first joined Radfield in March 2022 as a care professional Tayla was quickly promoted to field care supervisor in October 2022, clearly demonstrating her skills and professionalism within the team. Tayla describes her route to Radfield:
“I started working within the care industry when I was 17, I started in a care home for dementia as my first care job. I really enjoyed my time working within the home and decided when I was 18 to move to domiciliary care. I have worked in domiciliary care now for almost 6 years and I can never see myself doing any other job. I already had previous experience as a senior care professional at a previous company but I was always interested in becoming care coordinator and when I was offered the role within Radfield I jumped at the opportunity and I love it!”
Excellence in care runs in the family, with Tayla’s mum being a fantastic care sector role model for her, as Tayla explains:
“When I was younger my mum was always a Care Professional when I was growing up and I always admired how she would look after the elderly. I remember on one specific occasion my mum had seen a lady collapse at a bus stop and she stopped immediately to help her and she waited with her until help arrived. After that day I always aspired to follow in my mum’s footsteps within the care industry.
I have always believed that my role as a care coordinator has never been as straightforward as sitting and allocating work, I have always taken into consideration the clients preferred times and preferred staff members. I believe that by implementing this mindset I can ensure that the clients are receiving as much continuity as possible. I achieved my level 3 Health and Social Care when I was in college and now I am currently working towards my level 5 NVQ in Health Care.”
